Camaiore is a town in the province of Lucca, in the region of
Tuscany, on the northwestern coast of
Italy. It covers 84.58 sq km (32.66 sq mi) and has a population of 32,000 people (2012 estimate).
Camaiore stretches from the Alps on its eastern edge, right down to the coast at Versilia in the west. It was founded by the ancient Romans, and was once a major Roman encampment. Its proximity to Lucca, the provincial capital, makes it often overshadowed by the latter.
