Capri is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is part of the province of
Naples, within the region of
Campania, in
Italy. The island is located off the Sorrentine Peninsula on the Italian mainland. It covers 10.4 sq km (4.02 sq mi) and has a population of 12,000 people (2012 estimate). The island is mountainous, with the highest point reaching 589 m (1,932 ft).
Within the island of Capri are a number of towns. The main town is also called Capri, while to the west is another town called
Anacapri. Noted for its rugged beauty, Capri is today a popular tourist destination. It can get very crowded especially during summer.

You can reach Capri by taking a hydrofoil from the port of Ischia or Forio. The journey will take about 40 minutes, and you are taken to the Marina Grande, on the northern part of the island. You can also take a ferry to Capri from Naples. The journey also takes 40 minutes and costs €16.
