North Brabant is a province in the Netherlands. Despite its name, it is located on the southern part of the country. Perhaps for the same reason, the province is also known simply as Brabant since 2001. It covers 4,919 square kilometers of land and 162 square kilometers of water, and has a population of about 2.4 million people (2012 estimate).
North Brabant is bordered by Limburg in the east, Zeeland in the west and the Meuse River in the north, while the Belgian province of Limburg and Antwerp are in the south. The capital of North Brabant is
's-Hertogenbosch while the biggest city is
Eindhoven. There are 67 municipalities in North Brabant, as almost every town is a separate municipality.
