Drammen is a river port city in Buskerud county in southeastern
Norway. The city covers 137 sq km (52.9 sq mi) and has a population of 63,000 (2011 estimate). Today the port in Drammen is the main gateway for the importation of cars into Norway.
The earliest evidence of human habitation in the Drammen area are the petroglyphs found in Åskollen and Skogerveien. These have been dated to be between 6,000 and 7,000 years old. The earliest mention of Drammen appeared in the 13th century, when it was described as a port for time. Originally there were two villages called Bragernes and Strømsø which were merged in 1811.
