Castelo Branco District is a district in the central western part of Portugal. Covering 6,675 sq km, it has a population of around 209,000 people (2011 estimate). The district borders Guarda District to the north, Coimbra District and Leiria District to the west, Santarem District to the southwest, Portalegre District to the south and Spain to the east.
The district capital as well as largest city is Covilhã. The district is composed of 11 municipalities.
