Coimbra District is a district of Portugal in the Centro Region, in the north central part of the country. The district is 3,947 sq km and has a population of 442,000 people (2011 estimate). The district is bordered by Aveiro District and Viseu District to the north, Guarda District to the northeast, Castelo Branco District to the southeast, and Leiria District to the south. It faces the North Atlantic Ocean to the west.
The city of Coimbra is the capital of Coimbra District. The district is composed of 17 municipalities and 209 civil parishes.
