Faro District is a district in the southernmost part of Portugal, located in the Algarve Region of the country. It is bordered by Beja District to the north, Spain to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south.
The district covers 4,960 sq km and has a population of 460,000 people (2011 estimate). The district is composed of 16 municipalities and 84 civil parishes. The district capital is the city of Faro.
