Porto District is a district of Portugal on the northwestern coast of the country. It is located within the Norte Region, and encompasses the city of Porto, which acts as district capital.
Porto District is bordered by Braga District to the north, Vila Real District to the east, Viseu District to the southeast and Aveiro District to the south. The Atlantic Ocean in along the west coast. It covers 2,395 sq km and has a population of 1.8 million people (2011 estimate). The district is composed of 18 municipalities and 383 civil parishes.
