Santarém District is a district in the Centro Region, in central Portugal. The district covers 6,747 sq km and has a population of 475,000 (2011 estimate). Santarém District is bordered by Leiria District to the northwest, Castelo Branco District to the northeast, Portalegre District to the east, Évora District to the southeast, Setúbal District to the south and Lisbon District to the west. The city of Santarém is the district capital. Santarém District is composed of 21 municipalities and 193 civil parishes.
