Barbate is a small city in the province of Cádiz in the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. It covers 143.6 sq km (55.35 sq mi) and has a population of 23,000 people (2012 estimate). The locals here are mainly involved in fishing and rural tourism. The city has a number of fine beaches.

From Cádiz, take the A-48 motorway heading south till Vejer de la Frontera, then continue on Route A-314 to reach Barbate. If you are coming from Gibraltar, take the N-340 route heading west till Vejer de la Frontera, then continue on Route A-314 to Barbate.
