Cadaqués is a seaside town in the province of Girona, on the eastern part of the autonomous community of
Catalonia, in
Spain. The town is on a bay on the Cap de Creus peninsula, along the Costa Brava facing the Mediterranean Sea. It covers 15.62 sq km (6.03 sq mi) and has a population of 2,600 people (2012 estimate).
Cadaqués was made popular by a number of artists who made it their home. Among them include Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Marcel Duchamp. Salvador Dalí visited it when he was small. Since the mid 20th century, Cadaqués has developed into a tourist destination.
The people of Cadaqués speak a varient or dialect of the Catalan language. It has some similarity to the Catalan dialect spoken in the
Balearic Islands.

Visiting Cadaqués
To reach Cadaqués by public transport, take a train from Barcelona to Las Ramblas, and from Las Ramblas change to another train to Figueres. From Figueres, take a bus from the bus stop next to the train station to Cadaqués.
If you rent a car, just drive on the AP-7 motorway to Figueres, then head east on the C-68 highway to Roses, and then continue east on the GI-614 country road until you reach Cadaqués.
