Gijón (Asturian: Xixón) is the biggest city in the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain. Located 28 km from provincial capital Oviedo, it occupies an area of 182 sq km (70 sq mi) and has a population of 278,000 people (2012 estimate). Today it is an industrial city on the coast of central Asturias.

Visiting Gijón

Gijón is connected by train to all major cities in Spain. Alternatively you can also take a flight to Asturias Airport (OVD), the main airport in the Principality of Asturias.
