Interlaken is a small picturesque village in the Interlaken-Oberhasli district, in Bern canton, Switzerland. It covers an area of just 4.4 sq km (1.7 sq mi) and is at an average elevation of 568 m (1,864 ft).
The village of Interlaken dates back to 1130, when the Convent of the Augustinian Canons was built there. In the 19th century, the village depended on small scale manufacturing for its economy, but today this has been superceded by tourism. Its located between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun - hence the name Interlaken, which comes from the Latin inter lacus meaning "between the lakes" - provides for many scenic sights and photography opportunities.
The warmest month in Interlaken is July, which experiences an average high temperature of 23°C (73°F). January is the coldest month when the average low drops to -4.1°C (24.6°F). August is the wettest month with 145 mm (5.71 in) of precipitation.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
