Wettingen is a small town in Baden district, Aargau canton, Switzerland. Set among the hills on the right side of the scenic Limmat valley, 408 m (1,339 ft) above sea level, Wettingen covers 10.59 sq km (4.09 sq mi) and has a population of 20,000 people (2011 estimate).

Much of Wettingen is bordered by the River Limmat to the south and west, Lägern hill to the north and Sulperg hill to the east. Much of the open land around Wettingen is used for viticulture and other agricultural purposes.
Most of the people in Wettingen speak German as their first language (84.2%). Close to half the population are Roman Catholics (48.5%) followed by those belonging to the Swiss Reformed Church (26.9%).

Zisterzienserkloster The former Cistercian abbey, dissolved in 1841, now functions as a school. The interior of its church, the Klosterkirche, done in the Baroque style, is highly ornate.
