Chipping Sodbury is a market town under the unitary authority of South Gloucestershire, in
Gloucestershire, England. It is one of a cluster of towns and villages that include Old Sodbury and Little Sodbury. Also nearby is the town of Yate. Chipping Sodbury has a population of around 5,000 people (2012 estimate).
Among the famous people associated with Chipping Sodbury are Edward Jenner, the English scientist credited with pioneering the smallpox vaccine, and J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series of novels. Jenner started his medical training in Chipping Sodbury while Rowling was born there.
Visiting Chipping Sodbury
Take the M4 motorway heading west out of
London until Exit 18, then take the A46 road heading north. Turn left to the A432 road heading west to Chipping Sodbury.
