Benjamin Franklin House is a museum located in a terraced house at 36 Craven Street, London. The house near
Trafalgar Square is the only surviving home of the man who would become one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
Dr Benjamin Franklin lived and worked in the house for sixteen years, from 1757 to 1775. During his residence there, he worked tirelessly to find a common ground between the differences developing between
United Kingdom and
America. While serving the public arena, Dr Franklin also indulged in his pursuit of science, health, music and letters, while at the same time, living a healthy social life.
The Benjamin Franklin House opened its doors to the general public in January, 2006, on the occasion of the 300th birthday of its famous occupant. The house is carefully restored and furnished in the period style in keeping with Franklin's era.
