Bromley-by-Bow Station (GPS: 51.52484, -0.01169) is a station of the London Underground in the Bromley-by-Bow neighbourhood in the
London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The station is on the Blackwell Tunnel Approach Road (A12), a major trunk road running from London to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk.
The Bromley-by-Bow Tube Station, which is on Travelcard Zone 2, is served by the
District Line and the
Hammersmith & City Line, both sharing a pair of platform, and both between the
Bow Road Tube Station and
West Ham Tube Station.
Bromley-by-Bow Tube Station began as a railway station called Bromley for the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway in 1858. The District Line, then known as the Metropolitan District Railway, began services at the station in 1902. This was followed by the Metropolitan Line, precursor of the Hammersmith & City Line, in 1936.
