Edgware Road Tube Station

Edgware Road Station (GPS: 51.52036, -0.17017) is the name for two separate London Underground stations near each other in the City of Westminster. Both are in Travelcard Zone 1. One is served by the Circle Line, District Line and Hammersmith & City Line, while the other is served by the Bakerloo Line.

The Edgware Road Tube Station serving Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines is on the corner of Chapel Street and Cabbell Street. It opened on 1 October 1863 to become one of the stations of the first underground railway line in the world. This is the station that suffered the 7 July 2005 bombing that killed six passengers.

On the Circle Line, this station is between Paddington Tube Station and Baker Street Tube Station. On the District Line, it is the terminus before the Paddington Tube Station. On the Hammersmith & City Line, it is between the Paddington Tube Station and Baker Street Tube Station.

150 meters away is the Edgware Road Tube Station for the Bakerloo Line, adjacent to the Marylebone Flyover. Located between Paddington Tube Station and Marylebone Tube Station, it opened on 15 June 1907.

There has been a proposal to rename the Edgware Road Tube Station serving the Bakerloo Line as the Church Street Market Tube Station, to end the confusion, but as of now, nothing has yet materialized.
