Finchley Road Station (GPS: 51.54701, -0.18014) is a station of the London Underground in the
London Borough of Camden, in northern London. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2. It is at the corner between the A41 Road (Finchley Road) and Canfield Gardens.
The Finchley Road Tube Station is served by the
Jubilee Line and the
Metropolitan Line. On the Jubilee Line, it is between West Hampstead Tube Station (heading towards
Stanmore) and
Swiss Cottage Tube Station (heading towards
Stratford). On the Metropolitan Line it is the Wembley Park Tube Station (heading towards
Amersham, Chesham, Uxbridge or Watford) and
Baker Street Tube Station (terminating at Baker Street or heading towards Aldgate Tube Station).
Finchley Road Tube Station began operations in 1879 for the Metropolitan Railway, the precursor of today's Metropolitan Line. The old station is now gone. It was replaced with the present station in 1914. In 1939, the station was also served by the Bakerloo Line until 1979, when the service was transferred to the Jubilee Line.
