Leytonstone Tube Station

Leytonstone Station (GPS: 51.56832, 0.00833) is a station of the London Underground in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It is served by the Central Line. From Leytonstone Tube Station, the next station is Leyton Tube Station, heading towards Ealing Broadway or West Ruislip Tube Station. In the other direction, the line forks into two. The main branch goes to Snaresbrook Tube station, heading towards Epping, while the other branch goes to Wanstead Tube Station, heading towards Hainault or Woodford.

The Leytonstone Tube Station is on the northeastern part of Greater London. It is located off Church Lane, close to the A12 Motorway. It is at Travelcard Zones 3 and 4.

The Leytonstone Tube Station first opened in 1856, for the Eastern Counties Railway. It was first served by the Central Line of 5 May, 1947, at that time serving as the temporary terminus until the line was extended to Woodford and Newbury Park.

The station carries a series of mosaics that document the life and works of famous movie director Alfred Hitchcock. The artwork was created to commemorate the centenary of Hitchcock's birth on 13 August, 1899. It was unveiled on 3 May, 2011.
