Moorgate Station (GPS: 51.51841, -0.08833) is the station of the London Underground within the Moorgate Railway Station. It is located on Moorgate, within the
City of London, just north of the old
London Wall.
The Moorgate Tube Station is served by the
Northern Line between the
Old Street Tube Station and
Bank Tube Station, and by the
Circle Line,
Hammersmith & City Line, and
Metropolitan Line, all three between
Barbican Tube Station and
Liverpool Street Tube Station.
The Moorgate Railway Station serves as the terminus of the central London railway. The First Capital Connect runs train services from Hertford, Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth to this station.
The Moorgate Tube Station dates to December 1865 when it was opened by the Metropolitan Railway for the extension of the subway from Farringdon Tube Station.It was rebuilt with new platforms in the 1960s.
