Queensbury Station (GPS: 51.59424, -0.28612) is a station of the London Underground in Queensbury, in the
London Borough of Brent. It is in Travelcard Zone 4. The station is served by the
Jubilee Line. Located facing a traffic circus called Queensbury Station Parade, it is between the
Canons Park Tube Station (heading towards
Stanmore) and
Kingbury Tube Station (heading towards
Stratford).
As with the rest of the stations on the Stanmore branch, it opened in 1934 for the Metropolitan Railway, the precursor of the Metropolitan Line. Since then, services have transferred, the first time in 1939 to the Bakerloo Line, and the second time in 1979 to the present Jubilee Line.
At the time that the Queensbury Tube Station was built, there wasn't a neighbourhood called Queensbury. The name was chosen to provide a continuity to the adjacent Kingsbury Tube Station. Eventually the Queensbury locality was developed, located to the northwest of the station, in the London Borough of Harrow.
