Angel Station (GPS: 51.53274, -0.10587) is a station of the London Underground. It was named after Angel, the district of London within the London Borough of Islington which in turn was named after a pub (public house) named Angel Inn, whose history goes back to 1638. The station, which is in Travelcard Zone 1, is served by the Bank Branch of the Northern Line between Old Street Tube Station and King's Cross St Pancras Tube Station.
Angel Tube Station serves a number of Off West End theatres which are located in the district, among them The King's Head Theatre and Almeida Theatre. The station first opened in 1901 for the City & South London Railway, and was the northern terminus of the line when it was extended from Moorgate Tube station.
Due to severe space constrains and concern over its narrow platform with - of barely twelve feet across - the station was entirely rebuilt, and the present modern station dates to 1992.
The Angel Tube Station is one of the stations for the proposed Chelsea-Hackney Line, a.k.a. Chelney Line, which (at time of writing, November 2010), is still on the drawing board.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
