Modern Architecture in London

London is home to some of the boldest modern architecture in Europe. In this city you can find cutting-edge skyscrapers, bridges, and other examples of ultra-modern architecture. The following are just some that I have managed to describe.

  1. 30 St. Mary Axe
One of the most astounding skyscrapers in the City of London.

  2. Barbican Centre
The biggest performing arts centre in Europe.

  3. BT Tower
A slender, cylindrical tower in London.

  4. City Hall
Office of the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London.

  5. Emirates Stadium
    Home of Arsenal Football Club.

  6. Millennium Bridge (2002)
This is a footbridge built as part of the Millennium celebrations.

  7. Millennium Dome (O2)
Large tent-like structure on the Greenwich peninsula.

  8. Paddington Waterside
Urban redevelopment project at Paddington, described as the biggest urban redevelopment in Central London since the Second World War.

  9. Shard London Bridge
New tallest skyscraper of London presently under construction.

  10. St George Wharf Tower
Tallest residential building presently under construction in London.

  11. Thames Barrier
Flood control structure across the River Thames.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
