Queen Square is a small garden square in Bloomsbury, London. It is approximately 200 metres (220 yards) to the east of Russel Square. For a while, the square was called Queen Anne's Square, on the mistaken notion that the statue in it was Queen Anne. It is not believed that the statue actually portrays Queen Charlotte, the wife of King George III (for whom he bought Buckingham House, renamed it Queen's House before it was today known as Buckingham Palace).
Many of the buildings around Queen Square are devoted to the health care industry. These include two hospitals, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), often wrongly called "Queen Square Hospital", and the Royal London Homopathic Hospital, on the east side of the square. The Institute of Neurology, a part of the University College London (UCL) is located on the northeast corner of Queen Square. The building to the north was formerly the Institute of Public Health, but is now used as the administrative centre for NHNN and the Institute of Neurology. The buildings to the west of Queen Square are devoted to medical research, and are part of the Institute of Neurology and other departments of UCL.
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
