In addition to the London Underground, Wembley Central also serves as a Network Rail station for the London Overground's Watford DC Line as well as for the National Rail's Southern Line.
Wembley Central Station first opened in 1842 for the London and Birmingham Railway. At that time, it was known as the Sudbury Station. It started operations for the Bakerloo Line on 16 April, 1917. The name of the station has since evolved to Sudbury & Wembley in 1882, to Wembley for Sudbury in 1910 and to its present name in 1948.
