Oakham is a town in
Rutland, England. With a population of around 10,000 people (2012 estimate), it serves as the county town. It lies to the west of Rutland Water, the largest artificial lake in Europe.
Oakham dates back to at least the Norman Conquest. Its castle was built between 1180 and 1190, during the reign of King Henry II.

Stamford, then continue west on the A606 road until you reach Oakham.

Places of Interest in Oakham
- All Saints' Church: Anglican parish church of Oakham. It dates back to the 14th century and is the most dominant landmark in town. Today it is a Grade I listed heritage building.
- Oakham Castle: Norman castle built in the 12th century.
- Rutland County Museum: Local museum providing interpretation on the rural and agricultural life in Rutland.
- Rutland Railway Museum: Museum now known as Rocks by Rail: The Living Ironstone Museum, this musuem displays old locomotives and ore wagons.
