Shoreham-by-Sea is a port and resort town in Adur district, on the southeastern part of West Sussex, England, close to the border with East Sussex. It covers 9.8 sq km (3.8 sq mi) and has a population of 20,000 people (2012 estimate).
Geographical features bordering Shoreham-by-Sea include the Adur Valley to the west, the River Adur on the west and south sides, Shoreham Beach to the south and the South Downs to the north.
Human habitation in the Shoreham-by-Sea can be traces back to Roman times, though the settlement is most likely established by the Anglo-Saxons, on the site known today as Old Shoreham. The St Nicholas' Church dates from this period. Following Norman Conquest, a new settlement was established in the 11th century called New Shoreham. It was laid out on a grid pattern and remains today as the principal town center of Shoreham-by-Sea.
A stretch of shingle bank separates Shoreham-by-Sea from the English Channel, with the River Arun running between the bank and the town.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
