Snaith is a town on the western part of the
East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is part of the civil parish of Snaith and Cowick which has a populaton of some 3,000 people (2012 estimate).
Snaith dates back to the Viking period of British history. Its name comes from an Old Scandinavian word,
sneith, meaning "piece of land cut off". It was already spelled Snaith as early as 1080, though it appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Esneid.
Today Snaith is just a small English town with its share of shops. Most of the shops in Snaith are clustered on the Market Place, which also has a small delicatessen and a café.
