South West England is the largest of the nine regions of England. It covers an area of 23,828 sq km (9,200 sq mi). However, it terms of population, it ranks 7th out of the nine regions, with only 4.9 million people. The GDP per capital of South West England is £18,195, the fourth highest among the regions.

South West England comprises the counties of Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The area known as West Country is also part of South West England, as is much of Wessex.

South West England is renowned as a major producer of Cheddar cheese. It is also famous for Devon cream tea and cider. It is home to two national parks and four World Heritage Sites, the most famous of which being Stonehenge.

Great Western Main Line of the National Rail links London to Bristol, Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance. The South Western Main Line connects London and Southampton to Bournemouth, Poole and Weymouth. The West of England Main Line connects London with Exeter. The Wessex Main Line connects Bristol to Salisbury and Southampton. The Heart of Wessex Line connects Bristol with Weymouth, Westbury, Castle Cary and Yeovil.
