Aberystwyth is Welsh town located at the confluence of the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol, as they empty into the Irish Sea. To be exact, only River Rheidol passes through Aberystwyth while River Ystwyth skirts it. Aberystwyth has a population of 16,000 (2011 estimate).

Aberystwyth experiences an oceanic climate. The warmest month is July, when the average high temperature rises to 19.3°C (66.7°F). Coldest months are January and February, when the average low drops to 2.2°C (36°F). November is the wettest month with 122 mm (4.8 in) of precipitation.
The earliest evidence of human habitation in the Aberystwyth area goes back to the Mesolithic age, when hunter gatherers made weapons from the flint deposits there. The earliest mention of Aberystwyth was in 1109 when a fortress was built there by Gilbert Fitz Richard.
By the early 19th century, Aberystwyth has become a country town supporting a population engaged in rural industries and various crafts. The Cambrian Railway line reached Aberystwyth in 1860, helping to propel a tourist book for the town.
In addition to being a seaside resort, Aberystwyth is today also a university town. The Aberystwyth University founded in 1872, and now called the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, contributes thousands of students to the town's population.
