ShuCaiGe (GPS: 5.454057, 100.297599) is an aquaponic vegetable farm in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. This is where you can find vegetables being grown utilising the aquaponic system, without resorting to pesticides or chemical fertilisers. The produce does not contain any form of chemical contamination and does not add pollution to the environment.
ShuCaiGe offers a green and self-sustaining environment for microbes to convert waste materials produced by fishes into fertiliser for the vegetables. The vegetables in turn absorb the nutrients and purify the water for the fishes, so water is always recycled.
ShuCaiGe operates a greenhouse with multi-layer racks that require minimal space to grow a large variety of vegetables including lettuce, kale, bok choy and others for the local market. Clients for ShuCaiGe vegetables include restaurants, cafés, hotels and the general public. The farm welcomes enquiries from food businesses as well as from the general public.
ShuCaiGe Aquaponic Farm has also launched the "Mini Farm Adoption Program" which is suitable for family activities, group events or individual consumer to plant their own vegetables. The idea is encourage parents to have fun with the kids and gain more knowledge. This adoption program also allows you to plant your own vegetables for longer term consumption period. On top of that, it can also be part of team building. Contact the farm for further details.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
