Farquhar Villa in 2010 (23 October 2010)
Farquhar Villa is a historic building along
Farquhar Street. It is believed to have been built some time in the 19th century. At present, I am still digging for information on this building. There is a suggestion that it may have something to do with Robert Townsend Farquhar, the Lietenant Governor of Penang between 1804 to 1805. However, I cannot determine as yet whether 33 Farquhar Street dates to the early 19th century.
Farquhar Villa is in an advance state of ruin. This is the result not only of neglect and weathering the elements, but it appears to have been deliberately facilitated. On this page you can see the villa when I first photographed it on 7 August 2008, and now, on 23 October, 2010, how much it has been gutted.

This was how it looked like two years ago, when I visited it for the first time. At that time, there was a thick undergrowth surrounding the building.
We found some workmen at the site of Farquhar Villa. We are not sure who employed them (7 August 2008)
