FGA Centre, Penang (18 May 2013)
FGA Centre is a church in Air Itam, Penang. It occupies the former Cheong Nam Theatre in the Ayer Puteh neighbourhood. The church traces its history to 1983, when services were started in Springtide Hotel. As such, it was originally known as Springtide Chapel.
Within a year of it being called Springtide Chapel, the church changed its name to Full Gospel Ministries, a name it held until 1986, when a merger with FGA KL resulted in the adoption of the name Full Gospel Assembly Penang, or simply FGA Penang.
FGA Penang occupied the former Gala Theatre off Aboo Sittee Lane from 1989 until 1997, when it occupied another theatre building, the former Majestic Theatre, following a brief period when services were held at the Paradise-Beachcomber Hotel, presently called Four Points by Sheraton.
The church bought up the former Choong Nam Theatre in 1997 and turned it into their headquarters. The building was dedicated as Wisma FGA Centre, and continues to function as the main premises of the church to this day.
