Fish Lane (Malay: Lorong Ikan,
Penang Hokkien: Kiam3 Hu3 Hang33

) in Malay, is a small lane in the Lower
Beach Street section of
George Town. It connects
Prangin Lane to
Malay Street. Fish Lane developed as a working-class neighbourhood during the mid 19th century, providing support industry such as the drying of salted fish, to the produce market of
Sia Boey.
In Other Words ...
Fish Lane is called Kiam3 Hu3 Hang33, meaning "salted fish lane" in Hokkien.

Facing Fish Lane, at the junction with Malay Street, is the steed-rod sculpture entitled
"Cow and Fish".
Street Vendor Mural (GPS: 5.41279, 100.33453)
At the Prangin Lane junction is a mural by 20-year-old artist
Chan Kai Lun. The painting depicts two street vendors of yesteryears, an apt reflection of what Fish Lane once was. Nippon Paint Malaysia sponsored the mural paint for the artwork.

Getting there
From the
Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal, walk along Pengkalan Weld until you reach the junction with Gat Lebuh Melayu. Turn right, and enter
Gat Lebuh Melayu. Cross
Lebuh Pantai, continue into
Lebuh Melayu. Fish Lane is on the left side of Malay Street.
