15 November 2023
I visited Weng Kei Wantan Mee for the first time on this day. I was there with my friend Chris Teoh. The shop was quite full of diners, many of whom were senior people.
Ordering is from the menu. Unlike hawker stall wan than mee, the default plate with just wan than, or just barbecue pork (char1 sio1). You can also choose wan than and barbecue pork, which we did. That costs RM10 per plate, much higher than hawker stall wan than mee as of 2023. In addition, we also ordered a plate of roasted pork (sio3 bak3), which cost RM13. Chris counted that the RM13 plate of roasted pork has exactly thirteen pieces of meat, making it RM1 per piece!
The taste is very good. The wan than noodle is without the dark soysauce. Although both Chris and I would prefer wan than noodle with dark soysauce, this light colour noodle from Weng Kei Wantan Mee is still very tasty.
The barbecue pork and roasted pork are also very tasty. It is done just nice, very crispy and not hard at all.
On the whole, I feel that the price here is very high for two plates of wan than mee and a plate of roasted pork. However, the taste is good.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
