Free School Road, is a road in
George Town, Penang. It runs from west to east, beginning at the junction with
Green Lane and ending at the junction with
Perak Road. In between, it intersects with

Free School Road was named after the
Penang Free School, the oldest public schools in Malaysia. The school was relocated to this part of Penang Island in 1925. When the surrounding areas off Free School Road were developed, the new roads south of Penang Free School were named in honour of the headmasters of the school, among them W Hamilton (1925-1926), R.H. Pinhorn (1904-1925) and W. Hargreaves (1891-1904).
Apart from
Penang Free School,
Heng Ee High School and
Sum Sun Primary School are also located off Free School Road. At the western end of the road is the
Green Lane McDonald's.
