Giant Rat Mural, 101 Lost Kittens project

Giant Rat MuralGiant Rat Mural, from 101 Lost Kittens project of Artists for Stray Animals, ASA (1 June 2013)

The Giant Rat Mural (GPS: 5.41418, 100.33872) is an accompanying artwork to the Giant Cat Mural along Armenian Street Ghaut, in George Town, Penang. I initially thought it was created by the same group of artist who call themselves ASA, or Artists for Stray Animals, and it forms part of then project known as 101 Lost Kittens. However I later learned that the rat mural was in fact created by an anonymous artist.

The Giant Rat Mural depicts a giant rat, not unlike Remy from Ratatoille. He appears to be hiding around the corner, away from the pussy cat on the adjoining wall. Both can be viewed together as one, showing that the two are almost eyeing each other.

Getting there

The Giant Rat mural is located on a wall at Armenian Street Ghaut, within walking distance from the Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal. From there, cross Weld Quay by the pedestrian bridge, then turn left and walk along Weld Quay until junction of Armenian Street Ghaut (Gat Lebuh Armenian). Go along Armenian Street Ghaut, past the intersection of Victoria Street, and you will arrive at the mural on your right.
