Dinner at Hameediyah RestaurantHameediyah Restaurant (5 January 2017)

Although my wife and I have visited Hameediyah many times, as we like its murtabak, but I have never met the boss until yesterday. It so happens that one of my business partners knew the boss of Hameediyah. So yesterday, the boss invited all of us to dinner, and I met for the first time Syed Ibrahim, the great grandson of the founder of Hameediyah, and present managing director of the business.

Hameediyah had prepared for us a feast like we've never seen before. There was a big Curry Fish Head, Beef Curry, Mutton Curry, Squid Curry, Curry Kapitan chicken, Rempah Chicken, Curry Duck Drumstick, Dalcha, Murtabak, and Briyani Tomato Rice. There were four of us - myself, my business partner and two business associates, yet it was too much food for us. I mentally calculated in my head, if we had to pay for this meal, how much it would have cost. There was so much leftover that we get to take some home, which means I am having Hameediyah leftovers for dinner tonight, and I don't mind one bit!

When Syed Ibrahim met me, the first thing he said to me was, "You are very famous!" I have to admit, it's nice to hear that, and I feel humbled to learn that he has been a "follower" of my articles in Penang Travel Tips for a long time. Although I have patronised Hameediyah many times in the past, I have always eaten there incognito.

Syed Ibrahim invited me to return to the restaurant with my wife, and I unabashedly accepted. I look forward to write about that meal when it happens.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
