Hard Rock Cafe Penang (GPS: 5.467587, 100.241507) is the Penang outlet of the theme restaurant noted for its rock and roll memorabilia. The branch in Penang is located adjacent to Hard Rock Hotel in Batu Ferringhi. It offers various types of burgers and cocktails as well as other food items and beverages. At the entrance is a life-sized statue of Michael Jackson, who incidentally, is regarded as the King of Pop rather than Rock and Roll, of which that would be Elvis Presley.

Refurbishment

Hard Rock Cafe Penang closed for about a month in May 2019 for extensive refurbishment. It reopened on 14 June, when it held a Relaunch Party for invited guests. Hard Rock Cafe Penang is now open for business Sunday to Thursday from 11:30am to 2:00am, and Friday, Saturday and Eve of Public Holiday from 11:30am to 2:30am. After a month of extensive makeover, Hard Rock Cafe Penang opened its door once more to the party. In conjunction with the reopening, the music-themed entertainment restaurant held a relaunch party on 14 June, 2019. My wife and I were among those privileged to an invitation.

The refurbished Hard Rock Cafe Penang has a seating capacity of 150 diners, with two upscale vibrant bars and the boutique-style Rock Shop offering Hard Rock Cafe Penang-specific merchandise.

One of the highlights of the refurbished Hard Rock Cafe Penang is the fine drop-light chandelier hanging above the live entertainment stage. It recreates the iconic Hard Rock logo in three dimension.

As would be expected elsewhere, Hard Rock Cafe Penang is adorned with memorabilias of rock stars. They include a grey felt fedora worn by Prince during "The 1999 Tour" at Minnesota and a black bustier with gold trim and black tassels designed for Madonna, for her "Who's That Girl" tour of 1987. There is also a pair of red robot shoes worn and signed by Elton John.

Hard Rock Cafe Penang is not just about the deco. It is also a place to enjoy more than 20 new authentic American food, albeit given the Hard Rock twist. They include the Boozy Milkshare, which comes in two flavours: Strawberry Cheesecake and Cookies n' Cream. Also making its debut at Hard Rock Cafe Penang is the world's first impressive and indulgent 24-karat Gold Leaf Steak Burger - of which a portion of the proceeds is channeled to support a local charity organisation.
