Heah Mansion, Bukit Tambun, Seberang Perai (26 September 2020)
Heah Mansion (GPS: 5.27368, 100.4487), also called
Heah Swee Lee Mansion, is a historic Chinese-style mansion in
Bukit Tambun, Seberang Perai. Located along
Jalan Bukit Tambun, it was built over a hundred years ago by prominent Teochew planter Heah Jin Wooi, who was prominent member of the
Penang Teochew Association, and one of the pioneers of the sugar cane industry in
Kuala Kurau. His son Heah Swee Lee, was born in 1875. He inherited Jin Wooi's 2,000-acre estate, and made a name for himself. The mansion, though built by Heah Jin Wooi, was eventually named after Heah Swee Lee, who also had the road,
Gerbang Heah Swee Lee, named after him.
