As my wife bakes and cooks often, I asked my Facebook Group members for suggestion of where to find good baking supplies shop. We often frequent Sim Trading on Carnarvon Street, but the problem there is parking.
I discover that it is indeed easier to stop the car at Hock Huat, as the stretch of Claimant Place next to the police station is usually empty. I was however not going to park on the no-parking stretch, particular when the police station is right out right. So I asked my wife to go down and check out the place.
Each baking supply shop has its own style of doing things, and it's no different here. According to my wife, at Hock Huat, the flour are all in large packs. They will weigh and measure for you as and when you need them. A peculiar thing about the uncle selling the supplies does not use a calculator, and has to manually tally up the totals.
We have tried Hock Huat once, and so far, I can say we have no issue coming here.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
