Visitor: I'm from Alor Setar. Can you tell me, where in Penang can I buy dried nutmeg?
Local: You can get it at Ke1ling3na1 ban33san1 (lit. "Indian Market")
Visitor: Is Ke1ling3na1 ban33san1 far away? How to go there?
Local: Ke1ling3na1 ban33san1 isn't far away. You're now at Komtar Bus Terminal. This road is Jalan Ria. Go along Jalan Ria until Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, then turn left. Go along Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong until the junction to Penang Road and then turn right. Go along Penang Road until you see "Pasar Chowrasta" on your right. Pasar Chowrasta is Ke1ling3na1 ban33san1.
Visitor: Why is it called Ke1ling3na1 ban33san1?
Local: Beacuse a very long time ago, this market was established by the Indians.
Visitor: How long ago is that?
Local: Some one hundred and fifty years ago. At that time, the market area was an Indian village. Over time Chinese people moved in. Today at Pasar Chowrasta only Jalan Chowrasta and Lebuh Tamil have Indians living there.
Visitor: Wow, you know a lot about Penang's history. Are you a Penang history expert?
Local: Coincidentally I teach Penang tourist guides Penang history.
Visitor: Where?
Local: At the Penang Heritage Trust. If you like to know the history of Penang, come visit us!
Visitor: Sure, thanks a lot!

About this website
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
