Translation: How to use the Second Penang Bridge
The Second Penang Bridge is also called the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge. This 24 km bridge is the longest bridge in Southeast Asia. Malaysian prime minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak and Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng together officiated the bridge on 1 March, 2014. The public was allowed to use the bridge from Sunday, 2 March.
You may now use this bridge to go to Penang Island. If you're in Seberang Perai, you may use two interchanges to enter this bridge:.Exit 157 on the North-South Expressway and Exit 2801 at Bandar Cassia.
There are two Toll Plazas. The first is called the Integrated Toll Plaza. You reach this first. The Integrated Toll Plaza has two sides: Plaza A on the right and Plaza B on the left. Take a look before approaching the toll plaza. If traffic flow at Plaza A is smooth, go to Plaza A. At Plaza A, you pay an integrated toll for using both the North-South Expressway and the bridge. After paying, you can drive directly onto the bridge.
Plaza B is actually for the use of people from Bandar Cassia, but can also be used by motorists from the North-South Expressway, if Plaza A is congested.
If you see Plaza A is congested, then you can decide to use Plaza B. At Plaza B, you pass through two toll gates. At the first one, you pay for using the North-South Expressway. Then you head for the second toll plaza.
The second toll plaza is called the Second Penang Bridge Toll Plaza. Over here, you pay only for using the Second Penang Bridge. After paying, you drive onto the bridge.
If you're coming from George Town, head south on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway until Exit 2802, which is the Batu Maung Interchange, then turn left to enter the bridge. From here, you do not have to pay toll.
If you're coming from Batu Maung, drive north on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway until Exit 2802, the Batu Maung Interchange, and then turn left to enter the bridge. You do not have to pay toll from here either.
I hope my explanation is clear and that you will enjoy using the Second Penang Bridge, the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge, without any problem.
Thank you.
About this website
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
