Thanks so much for your letter. However, there's something I've got to mention: next time please don't write letters. Please write email. Letters are slow. Emails are faster. If you had sent this letter, by the time I received it Chinese New Year is over. Fortunately Ah Saik used his computer to send Mummy's letter to me. I received it within the day.
Mummy and Daddy, how are you? How's everybody at home? Wow, Ah Saik got 7A's for PMR, excellent! I am very happy to hear that. Has Grandma left the hospital? I'm thankful to Hasnah for looking after her.
I have good news. As my assignment is done, my professor allows me to come home of the New Year. I've checked, taking MAS costs only £753. Cathay Pacific is cheaper, just £723, but must fly via Hong Kong. I decided to fly MAS.
This time I'm bringing Barbara with me to Penang, so that Mummy and Daddy can get to know her. As Barbara is from Muar, her Hokkien is slightly different from how we in Penang speak it.
I am pleased that Mummy is learning to write Penang Hokkien. It's not hard, is it? Daddy must learn to write it too. Now even Barbara is learning to write it. She's getting better at writing Penang Hokkien. We don't have to worry about leaving our computer on, now that we write in Penang Hokkien, nobody here can read our mails!
I am very thankful to the guy who created this system of writing Penang Hokkien until the whole dictionary is online. When I get back to Penang, if I have the chance, I've got to look him up.
Tomorrow Barbara and I are going shopping at Westfield. if there's anything you need, please let me know and I'll buy back.
Lastly, this time it's not necessary to send my the airfare. As I've started doing some work, I can pay my own fare. I am pleased not to have to depend on Mummy and Daddy.
We are arriving in penang at 9:10 pm on Saturday, 25 January on MH 1164. We hope Mummy and Daddy can be at the airport to fetch us. Thank you.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
