[an error occurred while processing this directive] Linking Rhyme is a Penang Hokkien word game. The players form a circle. The first person (usually someone who wins a draw through la1 la1 li4 la1 tam3 pong1) starts the game by giving a monosyllabic word. He then forms a compound disyllabic word from it. The next person takes the second syllable and forms the next compound. It goes something like this:

kam1 (orange)
kam3chooi4 (orange juice)
chooi4 (water)
chooi1seh1 (water bill)
se1 (to comb)
se3 thau3mor2 (comb hair)
mor2 (hair)
mor3pit3 (Chinese brush)
pit3 (pen)
pit1ca3 (break)
ca3 (to bomb)
ca1khi4 (morning)

The game continues until it reaches a person who cannot continue the rhyme. He loses and is out of the circle. The game then starts again with the remaining players. The player next to the loser restarts the game with a new word. One by one the players are eliminated when they are unable to continue the rhyme, with the final player to remain becoming the winner.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
