Marhaban Ya Ramadhan Open House
My wife and I were overjoyed to be invited to Hotel Equatorial Penang's Marhaban Ya Ramadhan Open House, which was held on 3 May, 2018. Members of the Hotel Equatorial Penang team were all decked out in beautiful traditional attire, including baju Melayu, baju kurong and kebaya. Joining in the festivity, my wife and I also donned our baju Melayu and baju kurong.

The lobby decoration is lit up for the Marhaban Ya Ramadhan Open House (2 May 2018)

The Ramadhan Open House was launched by General Manager,
Mr Andreas Knüssi at the hotel's soaring atrium with the unveiling of the lobby decorations. Subsequently, we were then ushered to nada lama to the beating of the
kompang.
The Ramadhan buffet at Hotel Equatorial Penang was a grand affair. There was so much to eat. Instrumental in their creation is
Chef Azami Idris, the hotel's Malay cuisine chef, who has 33 years of culinary experience under his belt. Working his way up from a Commis 3, Chef Azami has served hotels and luxury resorts hot only in Malaysia but abroad.
Inside the restaurants, the various Ramadhan dishes were decked out in various food stations and islands, while in the alfresco dining area, there were more food stalls. Among the highlights that evening include the kibas panggang served with Arabic briyani rice, the Mongolian barbecue, the refreshing coconut shake, and more.
Muslim guests to Hotel Equatorial Penang's Marhaban Ya Ramadhan buffet dinner enjoy the use of the hotel's two
suraus, both of which recently received 5-star ratings from the Islamic Religious Council of the State of Penang. The suraus are located on Level LG (same floor as nada lama) and on Level LG2.
See photos of the two suraus here.
