Flamingo Hotel's Kampung Ku Buffet Review
My wife and I had the pleasure of trying it out yesterday, when the buffet was already in full swing. We had wanted to come earlier, but just wasn't able to make it. Nevertheless, we were so pleased that we finally had a chance to come for this buffet.
We arrived quite early, around 6:30pm, when the buffet was just setting up. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and ushered to our table. Then we went to check out the food.
The place was decorated like a lively kampung, with lots of dishes arrayed all over the place. The dishes were clustered at various "stalls" all over the hotel. On one section, there are the main dishes. A few steps below (Flamingo Cafe is a split level eatery), there's the food aisle, with the kuih-muih, ulam, cucur, desserts and bubur manis. On a separate section are various types of kerabu. Outside, in the lanai, more stalls were set up for grilled items, including a whole roasted lamb.
We decided to start our meal with fruits. In addition to the fresh fruits, we also took some to mix as Rojak Buah Buahan. It was a lovely start to our dinner. Once we are done with that, I headed for the main dishes. There are a lot of tasty items. The one I loved the most is the sotong, or squid. It was so nicely done, so soft. I supposed I wasn't the only person enjoying the sotong. I saw that it was finishing quickly, so I hurried over to get a second helping!
Also, they have Gulai Kepala Ikan Salmon dengan Bendi, one of my favourite dishes. Salmon fish head is the best when cooked in a gulai.
There's, as always, more food than we could consume. But nevermind, even though we couldn't eat everything, we saw that the restaurant was quite packed with diners, mostly Muslim diners having their break-of-fast Iftar meal there. Pretty soon, we were too full to continue, and so we reluctantly concluded our meal.
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves very much at Flamingo Hotel's Kampung Ku Buffet, and we thank the hotel for so kindly inviting us to try it.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
