Golden Sands Resort, Penang is a 4-star hotel within the Shangri-La group. It is located in Batu Ferringhi, just next to its sister hotel, Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa.
My wife and I experience the hospitality of Golden Sands Resort on 20-22 April, 2018. Upon our arrival, we were smoothly checked in at the Golden Circle Lounge, and then personally ushered to our room, the Executive Suite, located on the sixth floor of the resort.
The Executive Suite is incredibly spacious. From the main door, it is divided into two parts. The bedroom occupies one section, while the living room the other. It is in fact the size of two standard rooms, and thus have two bathrooms and two television sets. A basket of fruits, along with chocolates, cake and a bottle of Shiraz Cabernet were compliments of the hotel, along with a personalized welcome.
To be frank, the furniture is a little worse for wear. That surprised me at first, but then I remember that the resort has been around for so many years, but everything works and was spotlessly clean.
From our room, we enjoy a gorgeous view of the sea as well as the resort grounds. The resort's swimming pools and Sigi's Bar & Grill were visible from our suite.
We had our meals at Golden Sand Resort's main dining outlet, Garden Café. It is a huge eatery located on the far end of the crescent-shaped building. From our suite, we negotiated the entire length of the resort to reach the café. Along the way, we passed by the gym as well as shoplots.
Garden Cafe offers a huge selection of food for breakfast, representing both Oriental and Western cuisine. Everything we would want for breakfast is there, be it sausages, eggs, cheese, porridge, nasi lemak and anything else we would fancy.
On Saturday evening, Golden Sands Resort offers us the opportunity to enjoy their From The Ocean Buffet Dinner. This is a seafood buffet with a huge selection of seafood.
In the afternoon and the next morning, we wasted no time to enjoy Golden Sands Resort's facilities, the main one being its gorgeous swimming pools. There is also a whirlpool where you can sit and enjoy the bubbling water.
Our three days passed quickly and soon it was time for us to leave Golden Sands Resort, which we did, with much reluctance. We shall always enjoy fond memories of having done a staycation here. Thank you so much, Golden Sands Resort, for such a lovely stay!

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
