Experiencing Hard Rock Hotel Penang

Our stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang in May 2018 (29 May 2018)


My wife and I were so thrilled when Hard Rock Hotel Penang extended to us a complimentary stay. This was the first time we stayed in this themed hotel. Although we have visited it several times before, for meal reviews, this would be our first hotel stay here.

Checking in was smooth. We were provided a room on the 6th floor of the hotel. It affords a splendid view of the huge swimming pool. Hanging right over the bed is a stylized image of Madonna. I initially thought it was Marilyn Monroe, but learned afterwards that the hotel celebrates singers, and Ms Monroe couldn't claim that honour, unless you count the Birthday Song she sang for President John F. Kennedy!

I was particularly impressed with the level of personalisation in the room. The flatscreen wall television screen is personalised with my name. There was also a framed photograph of the hotel with my name, and the words "APPEARING LIVE". Oh, it makes me feel like a rock star!

There is also a personalised message welcoming me to Hard Rock Hotel, together with a souvenir spectrum. It was just so nice!

The decor of our room was just gorgeous. We love the little touches here and there. Take a look at the pillow case, for example.

The bathroom was particularly flamboyant. I could imagine it being in Elton John's home! It's all glass. The vanity can be slided to conceal the bathroom, revealing the oversize portrait of Ray Charles.

A stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang would not be complete without enjoying its swimming pool. This hotel has the biggest swimming pool of any hotel in Penang. It is actually two pools separated by a water park. The pool also has a section with sandy bottom, to mimic the look-and-feel of swimming in the sea.

The next morning, we had our breakfast at Starz Diner, the main dining outlet of the hotel. Breakfast was a sumptuous affair with a huge selection of food arrayed along the aisle and food island. The restaurant has two dining halls. There's food in both sections. Let me show you some of the items available.

After breakfast, I did a room and facilities tour. This is customary for me, as I want to show the different rooms and facilities available at the hotel. I was surprised that there is even an on-site spa.

Our stay at Hard Rock Hotel Penang is just too short, and soon it was time for us to bid it farewell. It has been a wonderful stay. My wife and I convey our heartfelt thanks to Hard Rock Hotel Penang for having hosted us, and we look forward to coming back soon.
